Low Kunstmagazine featured the show "Conquistadores" at Strychnin Gallery.
Conquistadores is an overview of fresh contemporary talent from Spain and Latin America that is – at least metaphorically speaking – out to conquer the world. Globalization has affected both the Spanish and Latin American art scene. Recent art contributions from these countries seem to be nothing but a footnote in global art history books. Far from it! Both art cultures are more alive than ever! And that is what the exhibition Conquistadores is about.

Alternative Magazine on Strychnin Gallery London opening, October 2007
"If you are looking for something completely different from the poncy-arsed bull-shit that is usually fobbed off to the general public as the new fashionable art (I’m thinking the dishonest, shallow, corporate and totally unskilled “work” of the Emin’s and Hirst’s etc) then look no further, The Strychnin Gallery has come to the rescue!
The gallery has bases in Berlin and New York and has recently opened up in London. Like our very precious and unique Horse Hospital, The Strychnin Gallery is a patron, conduit and showcase for all manner of underground, alternative and subversive art, which otherwise would have not got such high exposure. And like The Horse Hospital, The Strychnin attracts a very down to earth, yet intelligent, discerning and fun crowd to its premieres and shows – so if you want to network, or just be sociable, with like-minded people who are into the same kind of sick and twisted art that reprobates like us get off on, then this is the place to visit!
The opening London gala for the group show “Kings and Queens and Childhood Dreams” on October 26th attracted a cornucopia of “Subaltcult” people ( my new expression for “Subversive Alternative Culture” ) and highlights over 50 strange and wonderful artists. Think the comic Heavy Metal mixed Hello Kitty, Manga, Vince Ray, Dali, H.R. Giger, Hans Bellmer, Joe Coleman and biker airbrush art and you will have a rough idea of what to expect. Plus a lot of the sublime artworks are up for sale – most of it online: give them your support and they will be here to stay."
NY Arts Magazine on Strychnin Gallery London opening

Paul Booth - Inner Child
Needled
Paul Booth's Inner Child
Paul Booth, the Dark Lord of Tattooing, will present 10 new oil paintings, a collection called Inner Child, at the Strychnin Gallery in Berlin. Gallery owner, Yasha Schulz-Young, is expecting a crowd on May 19th, opening night, and says the media attention has been overwhelming.
In an artist statement, Paul reveals the impetus for this series:
"All of my life, I have strived to face and understand my demons and through the creation of art, I have found a way to come to terms with many of my painful issues. By releasing my feelings into paintings, I am able to confront my problems and slowly free myself from their power. This collection, which I call Inner Child, is a series of paintings that do just that. It has been difficult to immerse myself in these dark places from my past, but displaying these pieces plays an integral part of this exorcism for me."
Paul will be attending the opening and signing limited edition prints of two of the paintings as well as the show catalog. The first 30 people at the gallery on May 19, from 7pm-10pm, will also receive his CD of industrial and ambient sounds entitled My Ritean Legacy.
To understand why the artist has actual "minions", pick up the latest edition of Inked or read an older interview in Prick. Paul Booth is also the co-creator of the Art Fusion Experiment.
Styles Report Berlin

Sometimes I wonder
What goes on in your mind,
Always silent and kind
Unlike the others
Fuck the mothers kill the others
Fuck the others kill the mothers
I'll put it out of my mind because
I'm out of my mind with you
In heaven and hell with you
(Siouxsie and the Banshees, Nightshift)
