Elmer Presslee

I was born in Utah, and raised Mormon, which plays a large part in my artistic influences and style. My use of bright colors, floral arrangements, nature photography, crafts and sculpture combined with disturbing subject matter slanted to an atheists point of view makes my work unique. I gain inspiration from middle-American crafts and political bias. The basic methodology I work off is that I place myself into a situation or environment that is opposite of my personality. Be it a state fair, craft store, quilt show or community art class, I observe what is popular among people who I perceive as being on the other end of the spectrum of me politically and socially and take what they like and conform that to what I find interesting with the hope that they now see it as unnerving. My nickname is derived from an insult from my former coworkers.
