Squp

Squp was born in Castelfranco Veneto, Italy in 1967. She lives and works in Bologna, Italy.

She graduated in Art of Photography and Graphic Advertising at the Institute of Art in Cittadella and in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. She has also attended the faculty of arts and performing arts at the DAMS of the Bologna University, studying the relationships between art and cinema.

The main theme in her works is the investigation of the human body as a sensitive, transforming and ageing surface which preserves the memory of any change. Using different media such as photography, digital manipulation, video and performance, she points out the human body as "place" where relationships between nature and technology are accomplished.

The subject of her work is mainly exoskeletons: sheaths, hybrid creatures halfway between the human world and the marine world, without a defined identity and continuously evolving, able to adapt to a liquid environment. They are equipped with a series of aesthetic accessories designed for the waterproof humanity: shoes and armours entirely covered with shells, mimetic suits simulating porcupine-fish quills, photosensitive costumes.

Her exhibitions in Italy and Europe are in private galleries, public spaces and museums.
